Join a Peoples Budget Campaign working group!
Hi,
I hope you are finding joy during these times of resistance. We wanted to update you on where the People’s Budget campaign is, and how you can continue to engage. This campaign is about building power to win changes in the City of Boston's operating budget. We are focused currently on making a People’s Budget Proposal for the ~40% of the city operating budget that City Councilors have direct control over. Whether you’ve been organizing around budget changes for years or are totally new to learning about the budget and budget process, you are an important part of this movement.
At our first Peoples Budget Assembly in November we collectively decided the 8 budget areas we want to invest in and voted on 3 KEY investment areas to develop specific demands around during this budget season (Housing, Immigration Support, and Food Access) and one divestment area (police) and are rolling out working groups next week. Each group is meeting twice to develop proposals before our next assembly on Saturday, March 14!
Investment Working Group: Housing : Meeting info: Wednesday, February 4 from 5:30 - 7:30pm at 550 Dudley St. in Roxbury (DSNI). RSVP here.

SAVE THE DATE: People's Budget Assembly #2 on Saturday, March 14
In the meantime, Bostonians 11yrs of age and older have a chance to decide how to spend $2.2 million of Boston’s budget by voting in the participatory budgeting process called Ideas in Action. Voting is open now until February 15. You do not have to be a citizen or a registered voter in MA to vote on participatory budgeting. We invite you to select projects that focus on: housing, immigration support, and food access.
