Votes are subject to the following rules:

  • In order to be validated proposals need to reach 50 votes.
  • Each proposal can accumulate more than 50 votes

This proposal is could work, but changes need to be made. Anyone, not just the author, can use the "Amend" button to make changes.

✅ Public benefit in Dorchester and nonpartisan.

❌ Fits the budget ($5k) and is doable in the Summer (by August 31, 2026)

✅ We can pay for it via one of our channels (vendor contract, subgrant, stipends/microgrants, goods distribution, direct assistance).

❌ Permission in hand for any space you don’t control or pivot to a portable/off-site version.

The idea of using money to renovate an existing space is feasible, but in order for this to be voted on or to fund after signatures are collected, we need more details on the specific space and have permission beforehand. Also, this proposal talks about using $25,000, but this is the $5,000 fund. For $25,000, resubmit this in the Student Power Fund.

A Safe Hangout Space for Teens

Avatar: Jordan Carter Jordan Carter

Maybe

Teens in Boston need more safe places to hang out, especially in the winter when snow, dirt, and slush make it hard to be outside. Right now, a lot of teens get kicked out of stores or have nowhere to go except home.

With about $25,000, this project would work with the City of Boston to find a neglected public area and clean it up so teens actually have somewhere to go.
