Votes are subject to the following rules:

  • In order to be validated proposals need to reach 50 votes.
  • Each proposal can accumulate more than 50 votes

This proposal is could work, but changes need to be made. Anyone, not just the author, can use the "Amend" button to make changes.

✅ Public benefit in Dorchester and nonpartisan.

✅ Fits the budget ($5k) and is doable in ~2 months (by May 31, 2026)

❓ We can pay for it via one of our channels (vendor contract, subgrant, stipends/microgrants, goods distribution, direct assistance).

❓ Permission in hand for any space you don’t control or pivot to a portable/off-site version.

This proposal seems like it may fit our criteria, but is missing some detail. Who would we be paying to run this group? Where would it take place? This may also be seen as a series of events, which would still need someone to be the coordinator.

Parent Support Group

Avatar: Annual Children's Holiday Party Annual Children's Holiday Party

Maybe

Meet up every other week to talk through successes, challenges, advice, and learn from each other. The support group would mostly be parents, but people in the community could be invited to give advice on specific issues like safety, finance, and health.

Parents need help but sometimes don't have anyone to turn that's been through this. For example, my child had just turned 15 and was going through depression and anxiety and I didn't even recognize it. Ideally, there would also be money for food during the meetings.
