Background and context (including, if applicable, where this idea came from):
This proposal was generated in our first Food Access Working Group in February 2026.

Proposal (including what specifically the money would be spent on):
Funding a community‑run kitchen system that operates much like a public library, a Public Kitchen. These kitchens would serve as hubs where neighbors can cook, share recipes, preserve food, exchange cultural traditions, and enjoy hot meals together, while also supporting residents who simply need to be fed without barriers or expectations. By incorporating rescued food, mutual aid networks, and potential partnerships with organizations like the Global Food Bank, the initiative strengthens local food security and reduces waste. Portable indoor–outdoor kitchen units and a rotating roster of community teachers would make food education flexible and year‑round.
